Early Days

In August 2003, the Ageing, Disability and Home Care of the Department of Family and Community Services (previously known as Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care) approved our organisation to take over the management of a Group Home located in Marrickville. All residents, with various levels of intellectual disability, came from the Chinese background. Later in 2009, this Group Home moved to Belfield. With the move, the Group Home has become more spacious and comfortable. After the first admission of residents from other CALD backgrounds, the target group of this Group Home has spontaneously expanded to various cultural communities.

In July 2005, owing to positive operational outcomes of operating the first Group Home, the Department granted our organisation with the management of another Group Home, named Dominic House (DH). All five residents are from CALD backgrounds, with the majority having complex needs and requiring high support.

Development and Growth

In 2006, the Department approved CASS Care to provide Community Participation Program for young people with disability aged between 18 and 25.

In 2009, CASS Care began providing the first Community Participation Program to young people with disability from CALD background.

In 2012, the Department approved CASS Care to extend its Day Programs to cover not only Community Participation, but also Life Choices and Active Ageing in order to provide services to people with disability aged up to 65. In the same year, CASS Care was granted the approved provider status to provide individualised support programs to Supported Living Fund recipients.

In 2014, with the wealth of experience accumulated from the operation of the Group Homes and Day Programs for people with disability, our organisation successfully passed the Third Party Verification. Our services have been highly regarded by the external accreditation agency.
